I look out from my window and see possibility.
I can be myself. I can smile freely. I am valuable. My heart is whole.
Thank you Jesus for bringing such transformation to my life.
Thank You for your patience.
You waited for me again and again.
Thank You for always leading me.
You set your plan in motion to renew my spirit.
I ask myself, many times, how can my Thank You ever be enough.
To continue on, in Your name, is the answer.
May my life resemble You. May others see me as an example of You.
Forever, I Thank You.
Putting pencil to paper may be an old pastime now-a-days, but when it comes to your relationship with Jesus, this is one of the best ways to connect to Him.
An Old Fashioned But Always True Way To Build A Bond
To write a letter used to be the thing to do when I was a kid. I remember writing long letters to my aunt about all that was going on in my life. She was an artist and I felt such a connection to her, even more so as we became penpals. I would always put forth my best handwriting skills and then carefully write out her address and take it to the mailbox.
Receiving a letter back was joyous, always opening it quickly in anticipation for a conversation that could take me away to another place. These letters built a friendship I cherish to this day.
Now, it’s almost unexpected when you see what could possibly be a handwritten note or thank you card with your name on it in the mailbox, because isn’t it so much easier to instantly send a text message.
But there is something special that happens when we put a pencil down on paper and write out what is in our hearts. To see someone’s unique handwriting and thoughtfulness is more valuable than you might think. There is a bond created, one that time cannot take away.
Pencil, Paper and Healing
In the same way, letters to the Lord build a unique connection.
On the days where my thoughts and worries get the best of me, I somehow end up sitting at my window, writing to Jesus. I can share everything with Him and leave it right there on that paper.
At times, I can’t find the words in prayer. I can’t get myself to open the bible that’s sitting beside me. I feel far from the Lord. So, I write. I simply write.
Somewhere between the first line and amen, I find clarity and a new understanding about where I am at and how to make progress. All the while, my relationship with the Lord grows.
This also leads me to return to His word to make sense of everything and here I find peace. I can put aside my worry, which I discuss in Plant Peace Of Mind Into Your Day.
During this past week, in particular, my heart was filled with thankfulness and I thought how special it would be to write the Lord a thank you note. As scripture reminds us, it’s important to give thanks to the Lord.

Invite The Lord In With An Open Invitation
His grace and love is so beautiful. The Lord heals us from the inside out and then gives us the comfort of being with us – always.
How do I possibly deserve any of this?
Well, I don’t. But the Lord’s mercy is there for all of us to receive.
Maybe, in this moment, you feel far from God, can’t connect to Him or don’t feel deserving of His love.
Take out that notebook that’s been collecting dust in the desk drawer and write a letter to Jesus. He is waiting for us to come to Him with an open invitation to our hearts.
Start with a thank you note and see how it changes your perspective this week.
Danette, this was so helpful. I loved it. I remember writing letters to family and friends when I was younger. Especially when my family moved from Chicago to California. My letters were sometime five pages long on school notebook paper. Very very seldom do you receive a handwritten letter, thank you note, etc. yes, it does feel impersonal. You type a letter, etc. on the computer and either text or email it. And send the same to multiple people which all you do us change the name and text ir email address. I have been guilty of this too. Thank you. This week my homework is writing a handwritten thank you note to the Lord. Thank you. Well written! ❤️
