You’ve decided to no longer hold back. There is something that feels different about today – about opening yourself up to God’s plan and what He has in store for you this year.
Of course, questions loom and the uncertainty of change doesn’t completely subside in the moment. Yet, you begin to move.
Nervously, you pray to the Lord, seeking His guidance on how to make changes.
While this might seem so small to the world, any bit of movement closer to God is big in Heaven. Even the smallest of decisions in 2026 that are made because of your faith in God and His promises will hold weight.
“For I assure you: If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Matthew 17:20 HCSB
Mustard Seed Faith: Why is this important?
There are going to be many trials in life, but when you learn to embrace it with faith, everything changes.
Faith is all about believing in what God says and applying it, even when you can’t see the outcome.
“So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes from the message about Christ.”
Romans 10:17 HCSB
In scripture, the story of the two blind men, who call on Jesus to help them, asking for mercy and healing, is an example of hearing the message of hope that is Jesus and believing in it wholeheartedly.
They follow Jesus purely in faith, seeking Him, because He was their only hope.
Jesus asks them one question:
“Do you believe that I can do this?”
Matthew 9:28 HCSB
This question is simple, but also powerful. As I read it, I can feel its significance.
“Yes, Lord,” they answered Him. (Matthew 9:28)
Due to their visual impairment, they could not see Jesus or the miracles taking place because of Him, but they believed that Jesus is who He says He is – our Savior. And this belief in Jesus is what heals them.
Jesus tells them:
“Let it be done for you according to your faith.”
Matthew 9:29 HCSB
The two men were healed right then.
They did not doubt. They pursued the Lord with everything they had. There were many other people following Jesus, but He saw the efforts and faith of these two men and blessed them.
When steps of any kind are made because of your belief in Jesus, this opens the door to growth and progress, and this is why mustard seed faith is so big. This kind of faith changes you and heals you.
In scripture, Paul praises the Lord for changing him:
“I give thanks to Christ Jesus our Lord who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, appointing me to the ministry – one who was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an arrogant man.”
1 Timothy 1:12 HCSB
Mustard Seed Faith: Seeds of Progress
Transformation happens because of our faith in Jesus.
Personally, I experienced progress in 2025 when I decided to apply my faith in God’s word, as I once did when I was first saved by His grace. I could tell I was reverting to some old habits of worrisome thinking when it came to my physical disability.
I remember thinking that anxiety was gaining ground again in my life.
But I also know that fear is not from God and I have a choice.
I can either let this feeling take over or I can let my faith take over.
Every time I felt anxious, I started to declare God’s word in that very moment.
Lord, Thank you for being with me. I know this feeling is not from you. You have not given me a spirit of fear. You have given me a sound mind. I leave any fear here and take your peace with me. Thank you Jesus. Amen.
Doing this allowed me to go to work and to physical therapy on days I thought I couldn’t.
Everything in life is going to circle back to your faith in Jesus, which is based on your belief in Him and His message.
We can’t see God, but we pray to Him in faith that He can hear us and is there to help us.
This is why scripture is so vital because God also meets us there as we read and His presence in our life begins to grow, opening our eyes to a new way of thinking. He talks about all of life’s troubles, about having faith, about the power of prayer, and his love for us.
“For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift – not from works, so no one can boast. For we are His creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time so that we should walk in them.”
Ephesians 2:8-10 HCSB
The Lord wants us to grow in our faith so that we become strong, make progress, and accomplish everything He has planned for us. God says His plan is to give us “hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).
Cherish His gift of grace by not letting any doubt sway you this year. Instead, let your faith be the determining factor as you make decisions.
“Let it be done for you according to your faith.”
Matthew 9:29 HCSB
