To share a conversation with a close friend or family member is beyond valuable because it can bring about inspiration, hope, and healing.
The first week of working on a new goal is the toughest, isn’t it?
Sometimes it feels like you’ve taken only the smallest of steps, but that alone is progress. You made a decision and are seeking God through the process as discussed in last week’s article about setting goals.
Each step accounts for growth, yet many times, I make the mistake of not talking about the steps Jesus is helping me take.
I tend to keep my goals, and everything that happens in between, for only myself and the Lord to share. I can see now how selfish this is on my part, because whenever I’ve made a goal that includes the Lord, there is always progress and a change that occurs in my thinking.
How can I keep any part of what Jesus is doing all to myself?
He provides knowledge and strategies to live differently and to better ourselves. What He reveals to us is too important not to share.
Each Step You Share Brings Hope
When we share with a friend what Jesus is doing to support us, and guide us through the struggles, it brings hope. That friend may be in the same place you once were, feeling stuck or alone. As they see noticeable changes in you, it’s encouraging.
That’s why I want to admit, this goal setting challenge has actually been a lot more difficult than I thought.
After putting my goals on paper, I struggled to return to that notepad. I have been avoiding the uncertainty that I feel about going back to school.
Because of this, I had to make a point to slow down and take time to be with the Lord.
I don’t know where to start, I finally told Him.
When I actually spoke those words, I felt relief. God does not want us holding on to fear and that’s exactly what I’ve been doing.
Then, the Lord reminded me to believe. Take the first step and believe.
I don’t want to make the same mistake of not sharing this, because I know this isn’t just for me. Someone else out there is also feeling uncertain. God is saying to you – Believe.
Keep Speaking His Name Through The Trials
My hope is that we can all begin to open up and talk more about Jesus, even in our struggle to set goals and accomplish them.
Keep it simple.
How has He helped you this morning?
What has He taught you this past week after setting new goals?
Is there a special message the Lord is speaking into your life?
These are all questions we should be asking ourselves to stay in tune with what Jesus is doing. We have an opportunity to pass along His love, patience, kindness, and knowledge to those around us. You never know how your testimony can make a difference in another person’s life.
I want to end with a special prayer to Jesus. May this help us all stay focused on being a part of the Lord’s plan.
