I often hear people at church say, There is joy in the morning.
While the morning does bring us new beginnings, we all face difficulties that are far from joyous. Some might describe joy in the morning as a little out of reach.
In turn, the simplicity of this statement is not always received well or understood. I would like to put this into context by sharing the entire verse, because I think there is a special message here we are missing.
I believe this joy is not necessarily referring to happiness, but more so a fullness that comes from the acknowledgement that God is by our side. We can wake, even after turmoil, with joy because God is faithful.
This psalm is a song to praise the Lord for all that He did to help David. In his most trying moments, David called on the Lord, who saves him from death and heals him.
There is an urging here from David for us to praise the Lord through everything.
Even when the Lord may be disappointed in us, He remains with us … His favor, a lifetime.
In those moments of weeping, we are not alone. The Lord ‘s grace makes it possible for us to move forward into another day – this is the joy that is available to us every morning.
David goes on to describe how the Lord renewed his spirit.
To be clothed with gladness by the Lord is quite special, because when the Lord gives us something it cannot be taken by anyone or anything.
Yes, sadness and heartache will affect each of us, but the Lord will guide us through it, all while strengthening us just as he did David.
I was once a person who went to bed relieved the day way over, wondering how I would make it through the day to come. Now, Jesus has filled my heart so full that I go to bed excited to see what the next day will bring.
Because of this transformation, I can say to you with confidence that there is, in fact, joy in the morning. Whatever you may face this week, hold fast to the fact that Jesus is by your side. Sadness, frustration, and fear are all real emotions, but those emotions don’t have to lead you into the day. The Lord will comfort your heart. He will fill you with wholeness.
I pray that this study of Psalm 30 enables you to step out into this week with a new sense of joy.
Every morning, start the day thanking God for another chance, then smile and get going because Jesus is with you. He loves you.
New Plans for Dedicated To Jesus
Hi friends,
I have had the honor of sharing my testimony with so many of you this past year of blogging. I pray that my articles have provided not only encouragement but also a newfound understanding of the Lord and His desire for each of us to grow in our faith.
My goal is to continue to build faith by focusing in on various pieces of wisdom from the Bible every week.
I hope that you will join me in dedicating time to the Lord by studying His Word and practicing His ways.
With thanks,
Danette
