Make A Declaration For Healing

June 23, 2022October 26, 2022
make a declaration

There is power in a declaration. I find that in my most trying moments, making a declaration in the name of Jesus can change everything.

I’ve been in physical therapy for months, trying to strengthen my legs and core. While being in a wheelchair may seem limiting, it is anything but that. I have independence and the ability to try.

Of Course, my mind likes to discourage me with thoughts of doubt and physical instability.

Whenever the therapist says, “Let’s try the treadmill again,” my eyes become wide as I stare at the large intense-looking piece of machinery sitting in the corner. I respond, “Sure, Let’s do it!” as if I’m ready.

Within the first few steps, I can tell if my legs are going to work with me or not. There are times where my arms are taking all the heat and my legs feel like they are barely stumbling forward. I have talked myself out of success in such moments.

Instead of focusing on the fact that I’m actually managing to keep up with the pace, I set my mind on how I’m never going to make it past 3 minutes because today is not my day.

This way of thinking will literally take away any possibility of progress.

But I notice that when I declare the Lord’s mighty hand strengthening me to advance to new levels, I am able to push ahead more than I thought I could. I started off on the treadmill at a terrible, heart-pounding, I-think-I’m-going-to-be-sick 3 minutes, to an empowering 10 minutes, nonstop.

This took action on my part. I have to be willing to try. I have to face my fears. And I have to depend on the Lord.

Declaring His presence in your life will help you withstand the fear inside. Just as declaring His strength inside of you will keep you going. You’re not facing anything alone.

Don’t Talk Yourself Out Of Believing

We can all talk ourselves out of advancing. We can all let fear take hold with one negative thought. Or we can declare strength and healing in our bodies. Whether you need physical healing or emotional healing, it’s time to speak God’s truth and declare it.

"He gives strength to the weary and strengthens the powerless." Isaiah 40:29

The Lord does remind us that the key to finding His strength is through trust.

"... those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31

When we begin to take steps toward trusting God to give us strength in our trials, there is an inner peace the Lord provides.

Face Trials On Solid Ground

I still do have my moments where my mind can get the best of me. I have many tough sessions in physical therapy where I leave mad at myself for not shaking off the negative thoughts entering my mind. I sometimes even feel anxiety come over me randomly in my day-to-day life.

There isn’t time left to live on shaky ground though, where doubt leads us.

God wants us to live with peace and joy.

I wasted so much time, days actually, living with fear and anxiety, some of which stemmed from my disability. I can’t get that time back, but I can live today knowing I am not doing this alone.

With the Lord by my side, I am on solid ground. I can push through the pain and the frustrations of my disability and the anxious thought that it’s all too much to deal with.

I think that God wants to remind us that if we can bring ourselves back to a state of believing, we will walk with confidence, and with joy, and with peace, no matter what we are facing.

Declaring is believing that we will overcome.

"Don't be afraid, only believe." Mark 5:36

What are you declaring today?

Please feel free to print one of these “I declare” notes. Keep it on your desk or on your fridge to help you through any challenges you may be facing.
